An effluent filter is to be installed within the T-Joint assembly (sold TJA4 below if needed) of a septic tank outlet. The filter screens out any large solids in the water which might otherwise be released into a leaching bed. The use of an effluent filter can help prevent damage to a leaching bed caused by clogging. These filters are required in Ontario under the Building Code Act and conform to NSF/ANSI 46.
